Once again, another group of students from the Terrassa School of Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering (ETSEIAT) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya has chosen “Introduction to Sailplanes” as an elective course.

The course consists of theory classes taught by professor Rafael Weyler (a member and instructor of our club) and an optional practical part, made up of one or two introductory gliding flights, in which the students can experience first-hand how a glider’s controls work and try a few basic manoeuvres.

The part that falls to us as a club, the introductory flights, began on Sunday 5 March 2017 and will continue over the weekends of March and April.

We hope this year’s group ends up as satisfied as the previous ones, if not more. And, why not, that some of the students take up gliding and decide to carry on with the course to earn their pilot’s licence.
